The Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy is a digital media arts school housed in the city of Chicago in the state of Illinois in America and provides many courses and subjects similar to what other video game design schools provide for future video game designers throughout the United States of America. Tribeca was established in the year two thousand and seven and the main goal of the academy is to train students to grow into media professionals by teaching them the current techniques and skills that are used and applied in the industry. The Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy provides a two year Associate of Science Degree in Game and Interactive Media which will fully equip all the students, who qualify, to pursue a successful Computer Game designer career.
The first year of study at this video game design school teaches the basics of game production to all the students. Classes that students have to attend and subjects that all students need to pass during their first year of study towards their Associate of Science Degree in Game and Interactive Media are; game development today, critical game studies, introduction to game design, introduction to game development tools, introduction to game producing and project management, game studio 1, introduction to game programming and an introduction to game art. Over and above these first year courses and subjects all students will take another four courses, namely composition 1, mathematics, oral communication as well as completing humanities survey 1.
The second and final year of study will involve students in the following courses and subjects, namely, focus track classes specific to the student’s concentration, the business of games, interactive media development, game portfolio development, game studio 2, game studio 3 and flashpoint studios. All the students will then take a further two classes being composition 2 and humanities survey 2. All students will also get involved and work with the career services team at the academy to learn vital career skills such as resume building, corporate communication and interview strategies.
